Danko was one of a dozen people at an e-book workshop at Howe Library in Hanover earlier this month. Like most public libraries in New Hampshire and Vermont, the Howe belongs to the state consortium that provides access to thousands of audio books and e-books. Patrons log in online using their library card numbers and borrow what they like, and the materials automatically check themselves back in after a certain time period. News from Times of India: MYSORE: City-based Shubhodaya Charitable Trust is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that visually challenged schoolchildren face no difficulty in academics. The trust had come out with audio books for visually challenged students appearing for SSLC. Having seen good response, the trust developed audio books for Class VIII too. From 2012-13, Class VIII students will have a new syllabus, and the audio books are expected to help them in a big way. G Balaji, trust’s managing trustee and visually challenged political science professor, said that they faced problems while preparing for exams. “I don’t want students to face similar problems,” he added.
